Mosquito and Black Fly Control for Mungindi Update

Balonne Shire Council and Moree Plains Shire Council have teamed up to implement a fogging program over the next few days to help control mosquitos and black flies in Mungindi. This is part of a larger spraying effort across the Balonne Shire over the coming three weeks.

Fogging in Mungindi is expected to commence tomorrow evening, Wednesday 22 December. The spraying of the township is expected to take up to three days to complete.

How will fogging be carried out?

A fogging service contractor has been engaged by both Councils. A fogging unit, mounted to a vehicle, will use insecticide that has an ultra-low-volume (ULV) spray. The spray dispenses a very fine aerosol droplet (fog) that stays aloft and kills flying insects on contact.

Product Used

The contractor will be using a specialised product called Aqua-K-Othrine. For further information, please visit https://www.environmentalscience.bayer.com.au/pest-management/products/aqua-k-othrine.
