Happy New Year!
Congratulations on making it through 2021. After two tough years back-to-back, we’re looking forward with hope and optimism that 2022 is a better year for all of us.
With a new group of Councillors and a jam-packed calendar of important policies and projects for this new Council term, it’s shaping up to be an important and impactful year for us and the future of our region.
We look forward to working with you all over the coming year. Happy New Year.
Timetable for new Councillors
The first meeting of the new Council term is tomorrow, Thursday 6 January, in the Cooma Chambers. The full-day schedule will see the swearing in of the newly elected Councillors, commencement of inductions, and a vote will be held to elect our new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. On Saturday 8 January the induction process will continue with an all-day calendar of information and training.
Following this, on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 January, Local Government NSW will take the Councillors through their Induction Program – a workshop explaining their roles and responsibilities in leading and supporting our community while following state & federal legislation, state regulations, and adopted council policies.
We’ll be keeping you updated on all the news and developments through our website and social media.
Did you know you can stream Council meetings live online through our website? We encourage our community to tune in at 5pm on Thursday 6 January to watch the first meeting of the new Council – head to http://webcast.snowymonaro.nsw.gov.au/ on the night.
There's still time to have your say
One of the most important recreational infrastructure projects in our Council’s history is still open for feedback and consultation.
The Regional Trails Masterplan is the overarching strategy for the extensive trail network across the Snowy Monaro, and includes the proposed Monaro Rail Trail. From walking/hiking, to cycling and horseriding, the trails masterplan is all encompassing for regular trail users, locals and visitors.
Let us know what you want to see and what you think. The link is open for feedback until 5pm Friday 28 January 2022.
