As its first order of business, the new Council this week elected Cr George Greiss as Mayor of Campbelltown City Council while Cr Warren Morrison was elected Deputy Mayor.
Cr Greiss was first elected to Council in 2008 while Cr Morrison was first elected in 2016.
“Over these next few years, Campbelltown will see many exciting new projects come to fruition that will further raise the profile of our city and enhance what already makes this such a great place to live,” Mayor George Greiss said.
“It’s important that we take actions that will seize the economic opportunities available to us over these coming years while also getting on with the day to day job of providing accessible events, facilities and services to our community,” Cr Greiss said.
Both councillors will serve a term until September 2023, when the Council will re-elect a Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the remaining term of Council.
“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to lead our city through this period alongside Cr Morrison and with the support of our fellow councillors, returning and new. I will continue to work tirelessly for our community and if my fellow Councillors afford me the privilege to re-elect me as Mayor in 2023, I look forward to supporting the nomination of Cr Masud Khalil to be considered for Deputy Mayor,” he said.
