The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is pleased to welcome three new trainees who are set to kick-start their careers in 2022, by developing their skills and experience in local government.
Shire CEO Stephanie Addison-Brown welcomed James Ransley as Community Development Trainee, Kahlia Creagh as Engineering and Construction Trainee and Charlie Seberry as Amenity Gardner Trainee.
“I’d like to extend a warm welcome to James, Kahlia and Charlie,” she said. “The Shire will really benefit from their enthusiasm, while each trainee will receive opportunities to upskill and gain practical experience for their future careers.”
“Providing opportunities for high school graduates through traineeships is a great way for us to develop and keep local young talent in the region,” she said.
“I’d also like to extend my since thanks to outgoing Community Development Trainee Shannon Walker and Amenity Gardner Trainee Darcy Burton, both whose work in 2021 was very highly regarded throughout the organisation.”
Incoming Community Development Trainee James Ransley is no stranger to community events having been involved in the Augusta River Festival, Healthy Habitz and Tutu Dance Company’s end of year concert. James has a passion for music and events said he hoped the year-long traineeship would allow him to expand on his skills and experience.
“I’m looking forward to getting lots of experience in community development activities and events, and at the Shire overall,” he said.
Kahlia Creagh who is the first incumbent to the newly created Engineering and Construction Traineeship, said she applied for the position as it allowed her to stay local while getting some experience. The chance to work outdoors was the drawcard for incoming Amenity Gardner Trainee Charlie Seberry.
