Join us online from 8.30am tomorrow as Wodonga Council celebrates Australia Day with our new citizens and award winners.
The ceremony will be livestreamed from The Cube Wodonga and available to view from our Facebook page and website below.
January 26 is an important date in Australia’s history and has changed over time: starting as a celebration for emancipated convicts and evolving into what is now a celebration of Australia that reflects the nation’s diverse people.
Today, Australia Day serves as a day of celebration as we recognise the contribution that every Australian makes to our contemporary and dynamic country.
As we celebrate the national day and reflect on what it means to be Australian, it is also a time to recognise volunteers in our community who make our city a great place to live.
The livestream will include the introduction of citizens, a presentation of posies by the Wodonga Girl Guides and you can take part in singing along to Advance Australia Fair.
Tomorrow you will hear about the great things our fantastic Australia Day award winners are doing in our community.
We will announce Wodonga's Citizen of the Year and the Community Organisation of the Year.
We will also welcome the 10 Wodonga residents who will become Australian citizens today.
These citizens come from the Philippines, Nepal, two from India, Scotland, Mauritius, two from the United Kingdom, and two from Poland.
