Central Highlands Regional Council Mayor Kerry Hayes and fellow councillors are proud to announce the winners of the 2022 Australia Day Awards.
Mayor Hayes congratulated the winners and extended recognition to all of this year’s nominees.
‘Congratulations to our region’s Australia Day Award winners and nominees for 2022,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘To each and every one of you, whom so selflessly and tirelessly work to make our community the best it can be, I express my sincere gratitude for what you do.’
With this year’s in-person ceremonies cancelled due to COVID-19, the award presentations went online for the first time.
‘We had to do things a little differently this year, and that in itself is an Australian thing – faced with a challenge we always adapt,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘Whether your journey started 60,000 years ago or you came to this country in the last 12 months, Australia Day is about reflecting on our history, respecting who we are and each other’s stories, and celebrating the things that are quintessentially Australian.’
The award presentations were premiered on council’s YouTube channel this morning, and remain available for anyone to tune in and watch.
