For Curl Curl locals, you may have seen we have finished re-turfing the grass netball courts at John Fisher Park and removed the construction fence around the field last week.
The fence was up a little longer than anticipated to protect the turf and a pair of Masked Lapwing (more commonly known as plovers) who had made a nest on the field. Their chicks have now safely hatched and moved on, which means the paddock of lovely new grass is now complete and can be used by the community.
The softball nets were installed this week, so softballers and local schools can swing into action for the rest of the summer season.
The netball goal posts will be installed in late March to ensure this netball superhub, which includes 23 grass courts and 25 hard courts, is ready for the 2022 winter season.
We’re also planning to build a shared path along Abbott Road, from Harbord Road to Griffin Road, later this year. This path will provide a wider and safer option for bike riders and walkers with improved connectivity from John Fisher Park to the beach, schools, North Curl Curl community centre and surrounding businesses.
