The Gannawarra is gearing up for the return of the Campervan Motorhome Club of Australia’s (CMCA) Solos Network Rally to Cohuna next month.
More than 200 recreational vehicles will converge on the Cohuna Recreation Reserve between Saturday, 26 February and Monday, 7 March, with many attendees visiting Cohuna for the first time.
“Council welcomes the CMCA Solos Network Rally attendees to Cohuna and the Gannawarra, which is to be one of the biggest events the area has hosted since Cohuna last hosted the event in November 2019,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“The rally’s return to the Gannawarra could not have come at a better time, with attendees to provide a significant financial boost to Cohuna’s traders and community groups as the area continues its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Attendees will also have numerous opportunities to learn more about the Gannawarra via planned tours, cruises along Gunbower Creek, barefoot bowls sessions, tennis matches, evening gatherings, performances and on-site activities.”
To accommodate the influx of participants, the Cohuna Reserve’s main oval and associated buildings will be closed to the public throughout the duration of the event. Residents will still be able to access the reserve’s second oval during this period.
“People who would generally walk their dogs through the reserve will need to use alternative locations such as the Cohuna Ski Run and Gilrule Park – areas where dogs must be kept on leash – for the duration of the rally,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“All of the Cohuna Recreation Reserve’s key user groups have been consulted and signage will be displayed at all of the entry points to advise community members of the upcoming event.
“Council thanks residents for their patience and understanding whilst the rally is held.”
