The redeveloped Binalup / Middleton Beach foreshore will be bustling with activity next week with the Binalup / Middleton Beach Festival on 26 January.
The day commences at 7am with the Rotary Big Breakfast, followed by the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony and Community Citizen of the Year Awards at 9am. These will be held under a marquee on the lawn next to Albany Surf Lifesaving Club.
The Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony has traditionally been held at the Albany Entertainment Centre. This year the ceremony has moved to the Binalup / Middleton Beach foreshore to showcase the recent redevelopment upgrades.
From 11am the festival entertainment heats up with waterslides, parkour, children’s entertainment, markets and dodgeball taking over the foreshore.
Manager Community Relations Louise Paterson said the community are invited to join in the festivities.
“There will be something for everyone at Binalup / Middleton Beach this year, as the festival returns to our iconic beachfront,” she said.
“There will be water-based activities, sports, leisurely markets, food stalls and plenty of activities for the kids. There is an entertainment program that will showcase our region’s very talented performers including dance groups, the Albany Pipe Band and several live music acts.
“The City is thrilled to be staging the popular Binalup / Middleton Beach Festival at our beautiful redeveloped beachside space.”
