1 February, 2022
Commencing today, 1 February 2022, urgent roadworks will commence on Sunny Corner Road, Portland, between McManus Road and Oscar Parade.
Lithgow City Council continues to inspect and repair local infrastructure after the recent rainfall events. Resulting from this, urgent works will be conducted on Sunny Corner Road to improve roadside drainage and repair defects to the road surface.
“I understand that the impact of this continuously poor weather is frustrating for our residents,” said Lithgow City Council’s Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham. “However, I can confirm that the outcomes of the asset inspection process and calls from the community is resulting in action on the ground, as we see in this instance. With limited resources at Council’s disposal, there will be necessary delays to some work. However, the safety of our community is our utmost priority so please look for changed road conditions and adhere to posted restrictions.”
“I also take this opportunity once more to thank the Hon Andrew Gee, Federal Member for Calare and Hon. Paul Toole, State Member for Bathurst,” noted Cr. Statham. “Alongside the Federal and State Government generally, the support offered through the Natural Disaster Recovery Arrangements is critical in allowing Councils to respond to these events. We could not hope to attend to post-disaster recovery without this assistance.”
Works on the Sunny Corner Road should take approximately 3 weeks and there will be delays due to a single lane closure of this section of road between 7am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. The road will reopen fully by the end of each day with two lanes of traffic available.
Council appreciates your patience during this time.
