Parent Information Session for attending Youth Centre Members 8th and 9th February 2022In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, West Tamar Council have developed and implemented a Workplace Safety Plan – “Working in a COVID-19 Vaccinated Community.”
The health, safety and wellbeing of employees, councillors, contractors, volunteers and our community continues to be Council’s primary focus during this unprecedented time.
It is important that during these COVID times we continue to offer young people opportunities through Council’s youth services. We understand these opportunities play a significant role in the personal growth and development of local young people.
With this in mind, Council’s Youth Department have been busy working on structures to deliver programs in a COVID safe environment, offering the best duty of care possible to young people.
Changes include utilizing the TryBooking system, capping attendance numbers, and a more structured program at the venue creating extra space for social distancing. Masks are required to be worn with some exceptions, and improved cleaning strategies will be introduced.
One key change will be the registration process; if you have not registered TryBooking, your child cannot attend youth group on the day. There are advantages to using this system such as managing capacity limits, immediate response time for registrations and faster notifications if for youth group has to be cancelled..
In order for you and your child to understand all the changes that will be happening, we invite you to attend an upcoming information session. Attendance of an Information Session is now a pre-requisite of your child attending Council’s Youth Centre program.

During this time, you will meet staff, walk through the booking system, hear about exciting new opportunities, including workshops for participants, and have the chance to ask any questions you might have regarding Duty of Care and what that means for you as well as staff. You can also register for the Term 1 Youth Centre program on the night if you haven’t already done so.
If you can’t attend an upcoming information session or would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact our Youth Officers via the email addresses provided above.
