The Cocoon Gallery for Emerging Artists at Margaret River Library is now exhibiting the latest works of local artist Andrea Gaisa, in an exhibition titled ‘Enchanted Child’.
Art has been a refuge for Andrea, whose love for drawing and painting started from a young age. In keeping with this, Andrea says her current body of work seeks to reflect the way in which young children live in a magical realm.
“Everything young children see is alive and full of wonder,” she said.
“I aspire to find my way back to this magical sense of awe through my artwork.”
“Painting nature, fairies, magical creatures, thinking up mandalas; all of these things enchant me.”
The ‘Enchanted Child’ exhibition focuses on the natural and magical and encompasses framed works on paper, wooden panels and wooden slabs, using a range of media, including acrylics and watercolours.
The talented artist is also the author and illustrator of a book titled 'In My Heart', which was published in 2016, with her illustrative style reflected in this latest exhibition.
Subsequent to the ‘Enhanced Child’ exhibition at the Cocoon Gallery for Emerging Artists, Andrea is excited to start accepting commissions and is particularly interested in opportunities to collaborate with other artists.
The ‘Enchanted Child’ exhibition is on display from now until 28 February. The community are invited to attend the exhibition launch on Thursday 10 February from 6pm to 7pm. Those who would like to attend the launch are asked to please RSVP to the artist on [email protected]
The Margaret River Library is an easily accessible venue. The community are welcome to view this latest free exhibition at the Cocoon Gallery for Emerging Artists in the library’s foyer, at any time during library opening hours.
