Wyndham City is proud to announce Elise Gitau as its One Wyndham recipient for February.
Miss Gitau is a young achiever and has actively volunteered and participated in a range of projects to help those less fortunate. She has dedicated her time to participate and raise funds for ‘Make a Wish’ Australia.
Miss Gitau has also been a prominent volunteer helping the Kenyan community through the ‘The Book Project’ – an initiative that helps a children’s charity in Kenya by sending large donations of books to help educate vulnerable children.
Wyndham Mayor Cr Peter Maynard said: “Ms Gitau is an outstanding community role model who goes above and beyond to help others.”
“She has worked closely partnering with the Kenyan community in the western suburbs and raising funds for victims of domestic violence. She successfully raised funds to purchase 15 gift cards to donate to those in the Victorian Kenyan community who are experiencing domestic violence.”
Miss Gitau has a range of interests, from acting to excelling in both state and national gymnastics championships and was also a State finalist last year in the Miss Pre-Teen Australia International Pageant in Victoria.
Miss Gitau participated in the 2021 ‘Western Bulldog Goal mentorship and leadership program’ graduating from the Leadership program. The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation featured Miss Gitau as ‘Human of the West’ last year in August 2021.
