The Safest Way to Spring Clean...this Summer!

Published on 03 February 2022

You can safely clean out old and unwanted laundry, hobby, home and garden chemicals and bring them for safe and free disposal at the Burnie Waste Management Centre, Sunday 20th Feb 2022.

The Cradle Coast Waste Management Group (CCWMG) has organised this event as a free service for residents.

Items accepted at this events include:

solvents and household cleaners; floor care products; ammonia-based cleaners; pesticides and herbicides; poisons; pool chemicals; hobby chemicals; and acids and alkalis.

Unused chemicals pose a risk in landfill and are not permitted in kerbside recycling.

These free events are the best way to dispose of household chemicals that are no longer needed or are beyond their use by date.

Please note:

No early or late drop-offs can be accepted. Residents are encouraged to talk with neighbours or friends to arrange shared delivery if unable to attend at the scheduled times. Individual items brought for disposal must be no larger than 20 kilograms or 20 litres each.

These household hazardous waste events are made possible by a voluntary waste levy recovered at three council-owned landfills in North West Tasmania.

All levy funds are reinvested by the Cradle Coast Waste Management Group in services across the region to reduce landfill waste and improve the recovery of re-usable materials.
