Mareeba Shire Council has an exciting opportunity for a Procurement & Contracts Officer to join our Finance team.  The Procurement & Contracts Officer is responsible for the daily operations of the procurement and contracting activities of Council.  This involves ensuring agile, prompt, innovative and reliable service provision to the whole of Council, including assistance with the development and maintenance of purchasing arrangements that satisfy the diverse range of goods and services required by Council.

On an average day, you are likely to develop, prepare, advertise and evaluate expressions of interest, tenders and/or quotations called for by Council and provide advice, support, guidance and training to Council staff in relation to quotation, tendering and contract matters.  You will review internal purchase requisitions for compliance with policy and legislative requirements and ensure these are consistently applied.  You will also be responsible for overseeing the administration and maintenance of Council’s online tendering portal (VendorPanel) including advertising, tender openings and evaluations and preparing evaluation panel reports.

Extensive relevant work experience in administration and/or procurement within a large multidisciplinary organisation is essential.  You need to have well-developed interpersonal, administrative, investigative and report writing skills to deal with difficult or emotional customer situations with courtesy and sensitivity and to ensure accurate data and information relating to procurement is kept, analysed and reported on as required.
