Gannawarra Shire Council will implement alternative arrangements for Council Meetings until at least May 2022 as part of its commitment to community safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the first meeting for 2022 scheduled for Wednesday, 16 February at 6.30pm, Council has confirmed a return to in-person meetings will be delayed at this time.
“Council has successfully been able to hold regular Council Meetings throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, with meetings held virtually since September 2021,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.
“With Council continuing to adhere to the State Government’s Victoria’s Roadmap: Delivering the National Plan, which limits entry to Council’s facilities for residents aged 18 years and over to those who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or have a valid medical exemption, holding our meetings virtually means that all residents can watch proceedings.”
Meetings will be livestreamed online during this time at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/livestream, enabling residents to watch proceedings from the comfort of home, with video of each meeting broadcast available to view anytime at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/meetings
“Council’s efforts to livestream its meetings during the past two years have proven to be popular, with this important process continuing to enable residents to witness democracy in action,” Mayor Gillingham said.
Residents are reminded that the opportunity to submit questions to Council is available via the Question Time process, which can be viewed at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/QuestionTime
“The Question Time form provides guidance regarding how to frame questions to ensure greater clarity and a sufficient response from Council,” Mayor Gillingham said.
