TRC starting $2.4 million rehabilitation of Greenmount-Eton Vale Road

Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) will start works on a $2.4 million rehabilitation of Greenmount–Eton Vale Road in late February.
Located near Greenmount, the section of Greenmount–Eton Vale Road between the New England Highway and Greenmount Connection Road is in poor condition, with extensive rutting and shape loss.
TRC Infrastructure Services Committee chair Cr Carol Taylor said the road carried high volumes of traffic daily and was an important link between Greenmount and Toowoomba.
“The Greenmount–Eton Vale Road Rehabilitation project will be delivered by Council with the works expected to be completed by mid-2022,” Cr Taylor said.
“The project will greatly improve road safety for all motorists.
“It will involve reconstructing the pavement along a 5.6-kilometre section of Greenmount–Eton Vale Road.
“When finished, this section of Greenmount–Eton Vale Road will have a stronger and more durable road surface.
“New line markings and signage will also improve overall safety for road users.”
The Greenmount–Eton Vale Road Rehabilitation project is being jointly funded with $750,000 from the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme from the Queensland Government, $750,000 from the Australian Government through its Roads to Recovery Program and the balance from Council.
“Council would be unable to deliver the volume of road works required across the Region without the financial assistance of the Australian and Queensland Governments, and we’re very thankful for the funding support,” Cr Taylor said.
“Council gives priority to road infrastructure projects that improve safety and access for the broader community in the first instance.”
