We recently surveyed drivers and bike riders on the Northern Beaches and found a big gap in road rule knowledge.

The survey found that drivers had lower knowledge of road rules relating to bike riding than other road rules. Only 36 percent of drivers surveyed correctly answered that when they are at an intersection drivers must give way to bike riders.

The survey also found that almost half of bike riders avoid riding on roads because they do not feel safe.

With many locals riding their bikes to the shops or the beach, or a longer ride to work, we’re reminding drivers and bike riders to know the road rules to help keep everyone safe.
