As WA prepares for an increase in positive COVID cases, the Shire of York is working closely with health professionals, community groups and businesses to ensure that community members are well informed and well supported in the event of community transfer of COVID-19. Community exposure sites are now spreading to the Wheatbelt, so we need to calmly prepare.
At the Shire, we will be focussed on containing the spread of COVID-19 to ensure our services keep running. We are partnering with other service providers and community groups to making sure you still have access to the information and assistance you need through YorKIND and other initiatives. In the coming weeks a flyer will be sent to all households with details of what you can do at home, and how to seek additional help.
In the meantime, you can assist by maintaining good hygiene practices such as:
Social distancing Sound handwashing practices Using hand sanitiser Avoiding surface contact Sneezing/coughing into your elbowAnd making sure you are ready to quarantine at home.
Mask wearing
Remember, you are required to wear a mask:
???? in all public indoor settings, including in the workplace
???? in all vehicles unless the person is travelling alone or with members of the same household
???? at hospitals, residential disability and aged care facilities
Proof of Vaccine
In accordance with the WA State Government Proof of Vaccination Directions No 2 from Monday 31 January, proof of vaccination for staff and people aged 16 years and over will be required for the following facilities:

If you test positive for COVID-19, it is likely your symptoms will be mild and you can recover safely at home. You should only call triple zero (000) or attend an emergency department if your symptoms are severe.
