Burnie City Council has been successful in gaining Blackspot Funding to upgrade the intersection of Mount Street, Three Mile Line and Atkins Drive at Upper Burnie and is currently undertaking a study to determine the most appropriate traffic control treatment for the intersection.

Burnie City Council Deputy Mayor Giovanna Simpson said “Council has been liaising with the State Government, managers of the Mount Street road infrastructure, to progress the most appropriate traffic safety outcome.

“A roundabout or traffic lights are under consideration and as part of the study, Council wishes to receive community views against a range of safety and efficiency criteria.”

“Please visit www.burnie.net/trafficstudy2022 to express your views in the Community Views Survey.”

This intersection has been a concern to the community for many years and Council is looking forward to progressing the project pending the outcome of the traffic study.
