There's still time to shape the Draft Walking and Cycling Strategy

There is still time for residents to help shape Gannawarra Shire Council’s Draft Walking and Cycling Strategy, with responses via an online survey accepted up to 5pm Friday, 25 February.

Council and the team developing the draft strategy have undertaken an extensive community engagement process since late January, incorporating in-person meetings, virtual sessions and online feedback.

“Thank you to all residents who have taken the opportunity so far to participate in the Draft Walking and Cycling Strategy development process,” Mayor Charlie Gillingham said.

“Around 40 people attended in-person drop-in sessions held at Cohuna, Kerang and Koondrook earlier this month, which enabled residents to meet with the team developing the draft strategy.

“Feedback received from these sessions, as well as via the online survey, will help develop the Draft Walking and Cycling Strategy, which will assist Council in the ongoing development of walking and cycling tracks and trails to improve walking and cycling connections in and between communities across the Gannawarra.”

Meanwhile, residents are also able to assist with the development Kerang Lakes Eco-Trail Feasibility Study, thanks to a survey available online for completion at www.gsc.vic.gov.au/eco-trail

“This proposed trail, being explored in partnership with Kerang Landcare, will link Kerang and Lake Charm via a track that will enable people to walk or cycle through natural bushland and alongside some of the Gannawarra’s Ramsar-listed waterways,” Mayor Gillingham said.

“Like the Draft Walking and Cycling Strategy, all feedback received will assist with the development of the final version of the Kerang Lakes Eco-Trail Feasibility Study, which is to be completed later this year.”
