At its January meeting Council decided to implement extra measures to help protect sensitive wildlife in Burnie.
One of these measures is the remediation of the existing penguin fence on West Beach as a containment measure for penguins.
These remediation works have now begun.
Works are progressing very well along the northern side of the rail line off North Terrace and we are hoping to finish the first section of fencing today.
A second section of fencing to the east of the ramp to the end of the boardwalk will then commence.
