Due to increases in community transmissions Charters Towers Regional Council has made changes to how Australia Day will be celebrated this year.
The Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will now be restricted to current RSVPs from the nominee’s and citizen’s friends and family, a necessary precautionary measure says Mayor Frank Beveridge.
“As we’ve done all the way through the pandemic, Council are taking a cautious and measured approach,” says Mayor Frank Beveridge.
The pool party event that was due to take place tomorrow will now be postponed and is another proactive response from Council says Mayor Frank Beveridge.
“It’s unfortunate that we are having to postpone the event, but it’s a necessary and proactive precaution”, he says.
