Following interest from the community in the Wentworth Falls Lake Park upgrade, we are inviting further community feedback on the design of the new accessible walkway and bridge.
Council is holding an on-site meeting and extending the survey to give the community to more time to give their feedback. Please join us for the consultation event:
Date: Thursday 24 February, 2022 Time: 5-7pm Where: Wentworth Falls Lake
Or go to: yoursay.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/wentworthfallslake to view the design and take our short online survey – extended until Monday, 7 March, 2022
The planned upgrade will follow the current walkway and has been designed to enhance the space and the way the community uses it, to make it easier to get around while protecting the environmental values that make it so special.
It includes the construction of a fully accessible bridge, extending across the top of the dam wall, to the walkway on the north side of the lake, that features a dual level viewing platform.
This project is part of the Wentworth Falls Lake Masterplan and Plan of Management, adopted in 2021 after extensive consultation with the community.
Blue Mountains Mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill, said: “This is an important upgrade at a key district park – that’s why we’re giving the community more time to have their say, either at the on-site event or via a short survey.
“I encourage anyone interested in this popular Blue Mountains park to have their say before 7 March. Council is committed to delivering recreational facilities that are accessible to everyone in our community, while preserving the natural environment that is so precious to us all.”
District Parks are high quality parks that cater to the needs of the broader community and visitors, offering a wide variety of activities and settings. There are four district parks in the Blue Mountains: Glenbrook Park, Butttenshaw Park, Blackheath Soldiers Memorial Park, and Wentworth Falls Lake Park. All have received, or will receive, a major upgrade as part of the Western Parkland City Liveability Program.
The project is due to be completed by the end of 2022. For more information, visit yoursay.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/wentworthfallslake.
The project is funded under the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, which is part of the Western Sydney City Deal (WSCD). The WSCD is a 20 year-agreement between the Australian and NSW governments, and the eight local Councils of the Western Parkland City.
