You won’t need to land on a Monopoly square to receive free parking in the Toowoomba CBD this March.
As a way of showing its support to local businesses, Toowoomba Regional Council Infrastructure Committee portfolio leader Councillor Melissa Taylor said motorists would receive either free or discounted parking throughout the city centre for the full month.
“With the recent flooding in the city and latest wave of the pandemic, we know our local businesses are doing it tough at the moment,” she said.
“We understand this is a difficult time for them and want to assist however we can. Providing free on-street metered parking and 50% off all off-street parking rates is one way we can do this.
“This is a way we can encourage residents to come back into the city centre, shop locally and take time to visit our many fabulous cafés and restaurants.
“It’s important to support and drive economic recovery in the CBD as this then has a flow-on effect for the entire community. If we want a CBD then we have to support our businesses.”
During the month of March, Council will provide free on-street metered parking and 50% off all off-street parking rates with time restrictions still applying and being enforced.
To allow parking tariff signage changes to take place, the changes to parking payments will take place from 28 February through to 2 April (inclusive).
