Senior Information Centre Officer

Mareeba Shire Council has an opportunity for a Senior Information Centre Officer to join the team at our Kuranda Visitor Information Centre (KVIC).  The Senior Information Centre Officer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the KVIC including office and volunteer management and providing services to meet set objectives.

On an average day, you are likely to provide customers and staff with information, liaise and work closely with staff, volunteers, tourism operators and stakeholders, undertake administrative office duties for the daily operations of the KVIC and assist the Strategic Development Officer with the preparation and review of documents.

The KVIC is open seven days a week and receives higher visitor numbers on weekends compared to weekdays.  As such, the ordinary working week for the Senior Information Centre Officer is five days from Thursday to Monday to provide weekend coverage.

You will need to have well-developed skills to recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers. You must have high-level communication and negotiation skills and have well-developed skills in financial management and administration.  Experience delivering visitor information services and a detailed knowledge of local and regional tourism and the role of visitor information services, or the demonstrated ability to quickly acquire this knowledge, is essential.
