Cardinia Shire Council is marking Neighbour Day by encouraging locals to submit stories of how they have connected with neighbours in recent times through the online platform Connecting Cardinia.
Connecting Cardinia is an online space for the Cardinia Shire community to connect by participating in projects, sharing positive stories and providing ideas.
Submissions may include stories about activities that have led to reduced isolation, new friendships, and ways of looking out for each other.
Neighbour Day will take place on Sunday 27 March and this year marks 20 years of celebration.
Submit your Neighbour Day story from 28 February through to 21 March 2022 using Connecting Cardinia to go into the draw to win a prize pack for you and your street (t&c’s apply). Each prize pack includes a selection of prizes to share with your neighbours along with a larger prize for you and your family. Winners will be announced on Neighbour Day, 27 March 2022.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to show appreciation for your neighbours and build stronger connections together,” said Mayor Cr Jeff Springfield about this event.
“I encourage local residents to jump onto our online platform Creating Cardinia to share your feel-good stories of local community.”
As part of Neighbour Day, Council is also hosting an online seminar on Friday 25 March with Dean Cracknell from Town Team Movement who has worked across Australia building community connections.
The seminar will focus on learning how to bring community members, neighbours and streets together for better connections and social cohesion.
