Better Local Roads: Armstrong Road, Upper Beaconsfield

Road sealing works are kicking off at Armstrong Road in Upper Beaconsfield.

The works are part of Cardinia Shire Council’s Better Local Roads – Sealing the Hills program.

This program will seal almost 110 kilometres of unsealed road across more than 160 prioritised roads throughout the Cardinia Shire over the next eight years.

The works at Armstrong Road will include pavement construction, kerb channel construction, construction of traffic calming devices, drainage works, signage, and line-marking.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield said the works are contributing to building a better Cardinia Shire by improving the local road network.

“These works to seal Armstrong Road will make driving safer for our community,” Cr Springfield said.

The Better Local Roads - Sealing the Hills program is funded by $150 million from the Australian Government’s Sealing Roads in the Dandenong Ranges and surrounds program and is co-funded by Cardinia Shire Council in partnership with landowners via a special charge scheme.

La Trobe MP Jason Wood said “locals deserve better roads particularly given the huge population growth which has occurred in South-East Melbourne. This is why I am proud to have secured Federal funding to ensure that almost 110 kilometres of unsealed roads are repaired which will ensure that locals get home sooner and safer”

Local Beacon Hills Ward Councillor Brett Owen said the local community was looking forward to the works beginning.

“We thank residents and road users for their patience while our crews are working to make the roads a better, safer experience for all road users,” he said.

Better Local Roads – Sealing the Hills works are already underway in Princess Avenue and Crichton Road in Emerald.

The works are expected to be completed mid-2022, weather conditions permitting.
