Grab your hat, pack a lunch and head to one of the many events on offer at Toowoomba Regional Council’s (TRC) Parks Week from March 5 to 13, 2022.
TRC Parks and Recreation Services portfolio leader Cr Tim McMahon said Parks Week had something for all ages and abilities to enjoy.
“Activities on offer include exercise classes for adults and kids, gentle exercise classes for seniors, social croquet and outdoor gym classes, among other activities,” Cr McMahon said.
“There’s also a lot to explore at your own pace, like a visit to the community gardens at 22a Goggs Street, Toowoomba.
“Residents are welcome to join any of our Change Project Heart Foundation walking groups located at Crows Nest, Highfields and Toowoomba’s groups (East Creek group, Harlaxton, Toowoomba Central Walkers at Laurel Bank Park, Mylne Street group, Hearty Ramblers and Wilsonton Walkers).
“J.E. Duggan Park is a great spot to soak up the outdoors, with accessible trails suitable for wheelchairs and a perfect place to take the kids for a nature walk.
“Spending time outdoors has many positive benefits for our physical and mental wellbeing.
“Our Region is home to amazing parks and open spaces.
“Parks Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate these parklands and enjoy being active in the great outdoors.
“I encourage everyone to check out the range of activities on offer and explore a new park this March.”
Parks Week is celebrated throughout Australia and New Zealand as a combined initiative of New Zealand Recreation Association and Parks and Leisure Australia.
Please note, some of Council’s escarpment trails will be closed for an extended period following extensive damage caused in the February 2022 rain event. Please check individual trail listings on the website.
