Applications are still open for local community and recreation groups to apply for up to $50,000 for their projects as part of Mildura Rural Council’s latest round of Community Grants.
Applications are open in two streams:
Recreation Assistance The newly re-vamped Recreation Assistance Grant now features additional programs offering:
Up to $50,000 for major facility upgrades Up to $13,000 for recreation planning projects Up to $3,000 in club support grantsGroups proposing projects on Council-owned or managed facilities must apply for and receive approved Land Manager’s Consent prior to submitting a grant application. Groups requiring Land Manager’s Consent are encouraged to contact Council prior to starting a grant application.
All potential applicants must contact Council to discuss their application before submitting.
Events Funding and Support The Events Funding and Support Grant Program is once again offering up to $50,000 for Hallmark Events, up to $20,000 for Major Events and up to $5,000 for Community Events.
Applicants for new events are encouraged to contact the Events Team to discuss their eligibility.
Mildura Mayor Liam Wood said Council’s Community Grants were accessible to a wide range of groups and clubs and had provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in support for groups in recent years to make their projects a reality.
"Whether it's major annual events attracting thousands of visitors to our area, or smaller projects and upgrades for local community and sporting groups, our Community Grants can make a real difference," Cr Wood said.
"As part of our grants program, our staff are on hand to discuss your project or idea, providing you with all the information and guidance you need to determine which grant to apply for, and how to go about it."
Cr Wood said previous grant recipient the Mildura Storm BMX Club was a prime example of the impact Community Grants can have on local clubs, after successfully applying for funding for a shed to help cater for the club's growth at the Club's Aerodrome Ovals complex.
"Five years ago we were lucky to have 10 riders show up for a meet," Club President Rob Faux said.
"Now we have around 60 riders and around 120 members and everyone is very keen to be back on the track again."
Applications for the latest round of Recreation Assistance and Events Funding and Support Grants are open until 4pm on Monday 21 March.
