Due to the severely low water levels in the St Lawrence Weir, the raw water being received at the water treatment plant is of poor quality, impacting the water team's ability to treat the water effectively.
The Water Treatment Plant continues to be turned off due to this poor raw water quality and the public health risk of not meeting the Australian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines.
Council continues to monitor the raw water quality and investigate alternative options for maintaining supply.
To maintain supply to the community Council continues to enact our water contingency plan and is still trucking in potable water for residents. We thank the community for being water conscious and actively conserving water. However with no guarantees of replenishing rain fall we continue to seek community support to reduce non-essential water consumption.
Level 3 Water Restrictions continue to be in place with ongoing monitoring of the levels in the St Lawrence weir to determine if level 4 water restrictions are triggered.
