The winners of the Toowoomba and Takatsuki Sister Cities’ photographic competition have been announced, with six Toowoomba residents taking home a prize for their stunning entries.
Toowoomba Region Deputy Mayor Cr Geoff McDonald said the competition was a fantastic way to celebrate Toowoomba’s 30-year partnership with Japanese Sister City Takatsuki.
“There were some spectacular images of our Region submitted along with amazing photos of Takatsuki,” Cr McDonald said.
“I’d like to congratulate all of our winners for their incredible photos.
“There was a really great response to the competition with almost 90 entrants across both categories and 270 images submitted for judging.
“It was fantastic to see so many budding and professional photographers take part.
“Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry. We had a very tough time choosing a winner!”
The winners of the Toowoomba open category are:

The website also contains an online Sister City Photography Exhibition that has been curated by the Toowoomba Photographic Society and the Takatsuki Koeisha Photograph Association.
Sister City history: Takatsuki, Japan
A formal Sister City agreement between Toowoomba and Takatsuki was officially established on November 13, 1991.
The Declaration of Friendship agrees to deepen the relationship through mutually beneficial exchanges in the education, cultural, sporting and commercial arenas.
Toowoomba and Takatsuki have enjoyed a very active relationship with many exchanges occurring over the years, including student study tour exchanges.
Takatsuki, with a population of 355,000 people, is located almost halfway between Osaka and Kyoto in the southern section of the Honshu Island of Japan.
