Roads update – 29 March 2022

Flood waters appear to have peaked in Kyogle this afternoon, having reached 13.9 metres. The water will now progressively move down river.

Council has had to close the following roads today due to flood damage:

Boundary Creek Road at the first causeway Boorabee Creek Road at the first causeway Lions Road from Murphy Standfield’s culvert due to a landslip that has worsened Barker Bridge on Williams Road Gradys Creek Road at the last causeway Bolziccos Road Davis Road Walsh Road at the bridge Geneva Street (remains closed) Capeen Creek Road (remains closed) Lillian Rock Road (remains closed)

Roads that were closed earlier but have now been opened are:

Bingeebeebra Creek Road Theresa Creek Road Taverners Road Whites Road Campbells Road

Weather permitting, Council hopes to re-start work tomorrow to restore the landslip on the Kyogle Road at Cawongla Range. If the work goes ahead, the road will be closed from 8am to 4pm. Council will advise the community via Facebook as early as possible if the road closure is going ahead.

The situation on the Bruxner Highway and Summerland remains unchanged.

The Bruxner Highway continues to be restricted to one lane at two locations west of Mummulgum.  Landslips have closed one lane of the highway on the Mallanganee Range and near Rogers Road east of Tabulam. Both lane closures are expected to remain in place for some time.

Summerland Way is restricted to one lane of traffic at Burnetts. The single lane closure will be in place for some time.
