Redland City Council is inviting volunteer committee and board members of Redlands Coast community groups, and any locals interested in volunteering in a leadership role, to attend a free training program in March 2022.
The training program will be delivered through a series of workshops across the city, covering topics that include governing a community organisation, volunteer management and keeping your organisation viable.
Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said Council was pleased to be providing professional training and support to volunteers and potential volunteers to enhance their knowledge and skillset.
“Redlands Coast committee and board volunteers play an important role in leading community organisations that enrich lives, connect people, build cultural value and protect the environment,” Cr Williams said.
“These groups serve our community day in and day out and Council is proud to be delivering these workshops to strengthen community groups, boost morale, and provide members in a committee role with training opportunities to grow their skillset.
“A total of 12 workshops will be held across the mainland and North Stradbroke (Minjerribah), Russell and Macleay islands next month at no cost to participants, with the first workshop planned to be held on Tuesday 8 March 2022 at the Victoria Point Bowls and Recreation Club.
“The workshop series consists of practical information pertinent to overseeing the management of a community organisation, and I encourage volunteers in a committee role or anyone interested in applying for one to reserve your place.”
The workshops will be facilitated by an organisational development consultant with experience in working with community services and not-for-profit organisations.
Bookings are essential and can be made by visiting the program’s Eventbrite webpage or by contacting Council on 3829 8999 from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Council aims to deliver the workshops as COVID-safe, face-to-face events. However, if required, workshops will be transitioned online and held as webinars.
Council will notify all registered attendees of any changes to the workshops.
