Works to complete essential maintenance and upgrades at Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre (ALAC) will begin this month resulting in some disruptions to access.
A resurfaced car park, plumbing upgrades, enhanced main entry, landscaping and painting are among the works scheduled to be completed by the end of April.
While every effort is being made to minimise disruptions to the facility, there will be a temporary relocation of access into ALAC and a short closure to accommodate these works.
From April 12 to 27, access to ALAC from Barker Road, including the front car park and main entrance, will be closed while the parking area is resurfaced.
During this time, visitors are asked to access ALAC via the Sanford Road entrance and use the eastern car park. Entry to the facility will be via the doors at Court 5 which are also on the Sanford Road side of the building.
On April 20 to 21 there will be a short two-day closure of the facility while major plumbing works take place.
Executive Director Community Services Nathan Watson said the interruptions to access were temporary and the works would benefit everyone who used the facility.
“We take a lot of pride in our leisure centre and like any public facility it needs maintenance to ensure it remains functional and enjoyable for everyone,” he said.
“These works will provide a better ALAC experience and we thank the community for its patience and understanding over the next few weeks.
“We’ve put a lot of planning into the timing of the works to minimise disruptions to our usual programming as much as possible.”
