The City of Fremantle is once again partnering with Apace Nursery and the Water Corporation to offer half price native plants to Fremantle residents.
During the month of May, Fremantle residents will be able to purchase up to 40 native plants for the subsidised price of just $1.75 each.
Simply download and fill out the voucher from the City of Fremantle website, take it down to Apace Nursery in North Fremantle along with proof of residence like a rates notice or utility bill and claim your half price plants.
Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said May was the perfect time to spruce up your garden with subsidised native plants.
“The City of Fremantle encourages all of our residents to consider establishing a waterwise native garden, which not only looks beautiful but also saves water and provides a habitat for native wildlife,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
“A lot of gardens felt the strain of the long hot summer we’ve just had, so next month is the best time to get down to Apace Nursery, claim your half price plants and refresh your garden before the heat returns.
“For advice on choosing the right species you can have a look at the City of Fremantle’s Creating Your Verge Garden guide booklet, or just ask the friendly staff at Apace.
“As an added bonus this year, some lucky residents will also receive a free bag of native plant FOGO compost, made from the organic waste people have put into their FOGO bins.”
Apace Nursery is at 1 Johannah Street in North Fremantle and is open 8am-2.30pm Monday-Friday and 8am-12pm on Saturday.
In addition to half price native plants, the City of Fremantle also offers residents free mulch at the Fremantle Recycling Centre and free street trees.
