I was very pleased to recently attend the Lithgow Arts Council Gala evening and to mingle with the crowd in attendance.

I was honoured to give the annual Lithgow Arts Council Award to Alan George for his marvellously moving and fantastic portrayal of Jean Valjean in Lithgow Musical Society‘s Les Miserables 2021. Lithgow certainly has some talented people.

Lithgow District Chamber of Commerce also held a very informative event – Framework for Growth. I was pleased to speak alongside of our local politicians, Paul Toole and Andrew Gee, about my optimism for the city’s future. Great things are happening with the businesses of Lithgow. It is a very exciting time.

Lithgow Youth Week events commenced last Saturday at Tony Luchetti Sports Showground. What a great work the youth of the area are doing. The bands were fantastic. I was in awe of the talent of all of the youth attending. The young local band Hollowpoint were great!

Please support the them in the remainder of the Youth week with events like Mindfulness with Sound Bush Craft, Music in Cook St Plaza and Skateboard Workshops.  Council’s website has the details.

Please don’t forget to get your tickets to the Opera Gala at the Union Theatre on Saturday 30 April. Tickets are almost sold out. After having a photoshoot in preparation for the Opera, I am thankful for the Community who are embracing this event. It is so exciting to have this new and culturally significant event in Lithgow.

ANZAC Day is coming and I invite you all to join me at the 6am dawn service at Queen Elizabeth Park to honour those who have served this nation in times of conflict or disasters and peace. You can also commemorate later in the day with the march up Main Street Lithgow starting at 10:30am from Lithgow Public School and ending up at Queen Elizabeth Park for the Main Service at 11am.

Wallerawang, Rydal, Portland, Cullen Bullen and Tarana all have ANZAC Day services at varying times so please attend in your local area.

Please come along to the Portland Easter Family Festival on Easter Monday. The official opening is at 11am at Saville Park.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Easter long weekend.
