Making the journey from the Middleton Beach foreshore promenade to the Ellen Cove Jetty will soon be a breeze with a new pedestrian link thanks to the support of Development WA.
Granite retaining walls incorporating natural site boulders, concrete paving and timber decking built around the natural features of the site will form the new Jetty Link.
Construction of the Jetty Link will include new lookouts, revegetation works and interpretive features showcasing the natural, cultural and historical diversity within the precinct.
Interpretive artworks will form part of the works and involve local artists, artisans and community members.
The Robert Neill fish illustration series delivered in the first stage of the Middleton Beach Foreshore Enhancement project will be continued along the Jetty Link.
Executive Director Infrastructure, Development and Environment Paul Camins said that the Jetty Link will add to the recently improved amenity of the precinct.
“Connection between the Ellen Cove Jetty and Middleton Beach promenade will provide easy access for users,” he said.
“These works will provide the community with a consistent look and feel to the area with the ability to navigate across all spaces within the precinct with ease.
“The City is seeking feedback from community in respect to the entire Middleton Beach Foreshore Enhancement project, including the Jetty Link, that may influence the future of the precinct.”
Preliminary works are set to commence from next month and City representatives will be on site at Middleton Beach on the following dates to provide further information and address queries:
22 April from 2:00pm to 5:00pm 23 April from 7:30am to 11:00amMore information on the Middleton Beach Foreshore Enhancement project can be found here.
