Council's Arts & Culture team have organised two creative events throughout the month of May aimed at getting people out in the fresh air and appreciating art and performance.
An interactive puppet show will be held at various locations around the shire featuring accompanying musicians, which is bound to leave children and adults spellbound. A mini street art festival showcasing interactive murals at different locations across the shire will also captivate local audiences.
Council’s Director Community, Maria Weiss said activities such as these provide an opportunity for local artists to showcase their work and for members of the community to get involved and connect with other people.
“Isolation has been a major issue for many community members over the last couple of years so having opportunities to get out and connect with other people in the community is extremely important. Combining that with a feel-good activity such as art and creative activities brings so many positive benefits to all,” she said.

By Georgie Rose PuppetryJoin little puppet ‘Ana’ as she travels from town to town in the Macedon Ranges discovering different animals, having adventures in nature and making friends along the way. All stages of the show weave together as chapters, linking a story that travels between each of the locations. The little troupe of marionette puppets led by Ana will be supported by musicians playing the violin and the harp providing an enchanting experience for the whole family.
The performances are free and offer a chance for kids and the young at heart to learn from professional puppeteers. Children are encouraged to interact and play with the puppets after each performance.
