Kyogle roads update – 9 May 2022
Kyogle Council News 9 May 2022

Lillian Rock Road re-opened today to one lane of traffic after Council finished cutting a track around the landslip.

Traffic flow will be controlled by traffic lights. The lights will be in place until a permanent solution is completed.

Please note the road is slippery and motorist are advised to drive to the conditions.

Boomi Creek Road has re-opened after Council repaired a washed-out culvert for the second time during the extended wet weather.

Lions Road remains to closed to all traffic from Murphy Standfield’s culvert to the Queensland Border due to a landslip.

Specialist tree removal contractors have cleared the dangerous trees from the landslip, and Council work crews will start this week to clear the landslip in an attempt to re-open the road in the coming weeks.

Due to other landslips on the Lions Road, when it does re-open the road will be restricted to one lane of traffic at a number of locations.

Council currently has four crews working on pothole repairs. As you all know, the road network has plenty of potholes at present and we are prioritizing our works while we attempt to get on top of the problem. Council is initially focusing on Clarence Way, Kyogle Road, Summerland Way and Bruxner Highway before we turn our attention to local roads.

Grading crews have recently completed flood repairs on Peacock Creek Road and we currently have crews working on Station Road, Dunns Road and Hillyards Road.

The floods have damaged most of Council’s unsealed road network, which is more than 700km long. Council is working as hard as we can to fix the worst of the damage as quickly as possible and we ask for the community’s patience and understanding as we work our way through this massive task.
