Pipe Layer/Labourer W&W

Mareeba Shire Council is looking for an active and enthusiastic person to join our Water Reticulation team as a Pipe Layer/Labourer. The successful applicant will provide labouring skills and assist with a variety of maintenance, repair and construction activities within the water and waste section of Council. Experience in general pipe laying and labouring in the water and wastewater industry would be highly regarded. The Pipe Layer/Labourer W&W will be safety conscious and apply correct manual handling techniques as needed to perform the role. The position is based in Mareeba however there will be a requirement to undertake work at various locations throughout the shire as directed.

In the position of Pipe Layer/Labourer W&W, you will be required to assist with afterhours work and be part of an on-call support roster for the water and waste section. The position calls for physically demanding work to be undertaken in a hot and humid climate on a day to day basis. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to ensure they are and remain physically fit and able to efficiently and consistently undertake these tasks. This includes a requirement for them to maintain their weight at or below the Safe Working Load (SWL) limit for the seat of the machinery and equipment the position is required to operate.
