Save the date for Alive in the Park 2022
Kicking off on Saturday, 21 May on the banks of Yass River, Alive in the Park is a free, live music and arts festival for young people.
Run in collaboration between YASSarts and Yass Valley Council, the event includes live music, food trucks, markets, roaming performers, emergency service vehicle displays, headspace Yass hangout tents, Rotary jumping castle, Police and Community Youth Club (PCYC) circuit, moonlight cinema, and more.
No tickets are required. Simply bring along your friends, family, a picnic chair, and blanket and settle in for a jam-packed day of entertainment presented on the fabulously pink, bubble-blowing Soul Defender stage.

Council launches Resilience Blueprint Project
In these times of increasing risks and disasters associated with a changing climate, we need better ways of protecting what matters. That is why Yass Valley Council is part of the Resilience Blueprint Project for South East NSW.
Coordinated through the Canberra Region Joint Organisation and delivered through local government, the Resilience Blueprint works with all levels of government, emergency services, researchers, risk analysts, businesses and communities to embed resilience in decision making.

Safety Around Schools:- Works are well underway at Yass Public School. Use of the dedicated bus lane has commenced and been well received. Internal works continue. Final completion date on track for the end of May.- Works are also well underway at Gundaroo Public School. The team hopes to finish in the next couple of weeks, weather dependant.- Works are progressing well on the Grand Junction/Morton Avenue pathways project, with stage two underway. Work is expected to be completed by the end of May, weather dependant.- Works are scheduled to commence on the children’s crossing on Rossi Street in May. This work will be completed before the end of June. Fixing Local Roads:- Work is progressing well on Faulder Avenue.- Work is continuing on Morton Avenue but has been delayed by unfavourable ground conditions.- Work is almost complete on Walls Junction Road - the last of the eight roads to be rehabilitated under this grant program.- Works are in full swing for the next segment of Wee Jasper Road, near Gums Lane. The road will remain open, however, there may be short delays.- Murrumbateman Winery Trail is really taking shape. Earthworks are continuing along the final section of Murrumbateman Road.- Shingle Hill Way bridge replacement is progressing well. The contractors are continuing with bulk earthworks on site, while casting off the bridging components is underway off site.- Bango Bridge replacement detailed design work has been approved; on-site work is due to commence later in the year. Safety Upgrade works:- Works on Murrumbateman Road are close to completion.- The safety improvement works on Mulligans Flat Road have commenced.- The contractor for the Nanima Road safety upgrades has also been appointed and works have commenced. The Heavy Patching Program for 2022 is going well; this will be wrapped up by the end of May. Geotechnical investigation and design work is continuing on Back Creek Road. The tree removal works are set to commence in May/June. Road rehabilitation works on Hillview Drive have commenced. The road will remain open, however, there may be short delays.Development Applications
