Public alert: Sewage overflow in Emerald

A blockage that caused an overflow from one of our major sewer lines in Emerald today has been rectified.

Sewage overflowed from a number of manholes opposite to the dog park on Rifle Range Road and flowed through the adjacent nature area and possibly to the Nogoa River, upstream of the John Gay bridge.

The area along the overflow line has been cleaned and treated with lime or disinfectant.

If any wastewater has reached the Nogoa River it will be significantly diluted, however residents should be aware if undertaking activities on the river in this area. Water sampling of the river is being undertaken.
