The City of Fremantle is joining with the City of Melville and Town of East Fremantle to host the Positive Ageing Expo 2022 at the Walyalup Civic Centre next month.
The expo on Thursday 2 June is designed to promote and encourage healthy lifestyles and wellness opportunities for people aged 55 and over.
Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy more than 50 stalls offering a wide variety of engaging information and activities, health checks, demonstrations and discussions.
Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said the expo was a great opportunity for people to learn more about the services and activities available for over 55s in our community.
“As a as a member of the World Health Organisation Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities, we’re delighted to be hosting the Positive Ageing Expo 2022 in Fremantle,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.
“According to the latest Census data the City of Fremantle has both a higher median age and a larger proportion of people over 55 compared to the rest of Western Australia, and as a destination city Fremantle also attracts visitors of all ages.
“There are so many different services and activities in our local community catering for over 55s, and the Positive Ageing Expo is a great way for all of the service providers, local businesses and clubs to showcase what they offer.
“Everyone is invited to come down to Freo next month to enjoy lots of fun and interesting activities, as well as pick up some handy tips on how you can continue to live a healthy, active life as you grow older.”
The Positive Ageing Expo is at Fremantle’s Walyalup Civic Centre on Thursday 2 June from 10am-2pm.
Activities include live music with Ari Davis, tech help with your phone and playing video games, and trishaw rides with Cycle without Age.
Hearing Australia will be providing free hearing assessments, while visitors will also be able to discover the Lego table in the Fremantle Library or join a knitting circle with Pearl the Guerilla Granny.
