Mayor visits Lithgow Private Hospital

Recently, Lithgow Mayor Councillor Maree Statham visited the Lithgow Private Hospital to view the facilities and speak with staff. She came away very impressed the range of specialist health services available, as well as the passion and caring attitude of the staff.
Mayor Statham said, “I am constantly amazed by the community run facilities that we have in this city. Although this is described as a private hospital, the service operates on a not-for-profit basis with a Board giving freely of their time. Also, most of the staff are local and while many are long-serving, others are just at the start of their careers.”
“The statistics are impressive. Each year there are about 950 surgeries undertaken and 11,000 consultations delivered by around 21 specialists. As many as 800 lung function tests are also conducted. This quality local health service has resulted in 76,000 less trips outside the region for medical care over the last 6 years.”
“Many regional towns would be very envious of Lithgow having such health care services. I encourage the Lithgow community to really support and make use of this high quality hospital.”
