CH lights up purple for Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month

A purple hue has lit up Emerald’s town centre in honour of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.
Throughout May, the council, Queensland Police Service and CentacareCQ have once again joined forces to host various events throughout the month.
This has included lighting up the Central Highlands Regional Council office and surrounding trees purple, hosting a candlelight vigil ceremony at the start of the month and the anti-violence march coming up this Tuesday 31 May 2022.
Mayor Kerry Hayes encourages the community to meet at the Emerald Town Hall at 9.30 am to participate in marching against violence along Egerton Street.
‘It’s up to each and every one of us to come together and take action to show domestic family violence is not acceptable – not now, not ever,’ he said.
The march will begin at the Emerald Town Hall and end with a morning tea provided by CentacareCQ at 141 Egerton Street.
