Alpine Shire Mayor Sarah Nicholas said Council awarded a total of $77,000 to 22 important community projects in 2021/22.
“From a Shingleback bike trailer for Team Mount Beauty, to the purchase of supplies to establish the Myrtleford Repair Cafe, these grants provide a boost to some fantastic community projects,” she said.
“We strongly urge our local groups and young people to share their ideas and apply.
“This program funds community projects that support diversity, inclusion and community participation, and contribute to the building of healthy, strong, resilient, and connected communities.”
Recipients from last year’s grant program include the Myrtleford Bowls Club for the purchase of a bowling green mower and roller, Mount Beauty Neighbourhood Centre for funding to build secure private consulting rooms, the Bright Courthouse for a kitchen upgrade and the North East Victorian Hang Gliding Club for upgrades to the Mystic Launch toilet.
The Community Grants Program will again be hosted by the SmartyGrants online grant management system.
The SmartyGrants system is user-friendly for applicants and allows for efficient management of the grants process for Council.
