WOW (Women of the World) Australia Exhibitions - In Her Name

Wednesday, June 8, 2022 Of One Mind is a Brisbane based non-profit organisation and produces the WOW (Women of the World) Festivals. In 2021, we re-imagined our event from a three-day international festival into a series of four one day regional celebrations working with women in Charleville, Longreach, Cairns and Logan to deliver a WOW experience. Unfortunately, only one festival (Charleville) went ahead due to on-going lock downs.  2022 has seen Longreach and Cairns take place already with WOW Logan scheduled for 15-16 July.During 2022 we commissioned photographs and stories of women and girls from each of the communities where WOW festivals are taking place, to celebrate the work they are doing in their communities across many of the themes we explore in our festivals: leadership, identity, education, health, justice, domestic life, economy, culture, and the environment.These images together with the 10 images of Brisbane women leaders taken as part of the 2021 joint The WOW Foundation and Google Arts & Culture global on-line exhibition, The Hope Project form this exhibition, celebrating and honouring the women of Queensland.We are also delighted to include the ‘m e r i’ project by Wendy Mocke, first presented by Northsite Contemporary Arts gallery within Bulmba-ja Arts Centre.Find out more via the Powerhouse website.Venue: Exhibition Spaces Venue: Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm Venue address: Brisbane Powerhouse, 119 Lamington Street, New Farm Event type: Exhibitions, Free Cost: Free Age: Suitable for all ages Bookings: No bookings required.
