Give your child the best start to their learning journey at one of Macedon Ranges Shire Council’s eight kindergartens in the region.
Our kindergartens are rich in nature-based and creative learning experiences, with play spaces that encourage creativity and problem solving, in beautiful outdoor areas. Three and four-year-old programs are available.
Council recognises the importance of early childhood education and ensuring all families within the shire have access to high quality early education and facilities. This includes, works that were recently completed on the new Kyneton Kindergarten as well as a successful funding submission from the Victorian Government to upgrade Gisborne’s Manna Gum Family and Children’s Centre, allowing the opportunity to enhance the nature-based learning environment where children can learn, grow and thrive for many years to come.
Kyneton Kindergarten opened its new modern facility earlier this year in Edgecombe Street. The new kindergarten is built on a school site and joins the educational precinct for the township, making it easy for children to transition from kindergarten to primary school. The new facility offers contemporary early learning spaces with natural light and views to the outdoor play space.
The funding received to upgrade and extend the play space at Manna Gum Family and Children’s Centre in Gisborne will allow for additional shade and natural play spaces, a sitting nook, tepee cubby and water play elements making it a great area for children to enjoy hands-on learning through play and activities. Works are due to be completed in time for kindergarten in 2023.
Council’s Director Community Maria Weiss said Council had worked hard to understand the needs of the community in the area of early childhood education through obtaining community feedback during the development of its Municipal Early Years Plan 2021-25: CREATE. It has also been advocating strongly for funding support to upgrade existing early childhood services and to develop new ones.
“We understand early childhood education is one of the most pivotal stages in a child’s development and paves the way for their future. Council continues to provide high quality kindergarten facilities and services for the community to ensure our children get the best start to their education and that all families in the community are supported to access them,” she said.
Register for three or four-year-old kindergarten in 2023 by 30 June. Families interested in a tour can contact the kindergarten directly.
