The Adventures of a Project Coordinator: Meet Todd Jones

One of Council’s newest team members, Todd Jones, has seen the world after having lived in places like London, Wollongong and Newcastle. Experiencing what each location’s lifestyle has had to offer, he has been pleasantly surprised by what regional living has had to offer as Todd and his partner call their first country town, Moree home.

With their trip to England cut short because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Todd and his partner returned to Wollongong. Todd’s partner, a teacher by profession soon lined up a job and moved to Moree. Regularly visiting and enjoying the freedom the Shire offered, while COVID-19 restrictions were becoming even more restrictive in the city, Todd made the decision to relocate to Moree himself.

With a background overseeing multimillion-dollar commercial and residential projects, Todd wanted to continue his passion for project management. A position became available at Council, Todd applied and was welcomed on board the Planning and Development team as the new Project Coordinator. In this role, Todd manages building projects and is involved in every stage of the process.

“I am really enjoying my new role, particularly the responsibility that comes with delivering projects and its problem-solving aspects. Compared to my previous positions, I am more involved in their management and have more autonomy, which is really helping my career growth”, said Todd.

While Todd is developing career skills, he is also satisfying his love for travelling by exploring new places and learning some interesting facts along the way in regional New South Wales.

“Lightning Ridge is probably the highlight of my travels so far. On my trip to Mungindi, I learned that it is the only town in Australia that has the same name and postcode on both sides of the border. I thought that was pretty cool!” said Todd.

Living in Moree for six months now, Todd is still pleasantly surprised by how much there is to do and experience.

“Moree and the greater Shire put on a good day out. Community events like Moree on a Plate and country race days provide an atmosphere like those you would get back in the city.”

Todd has welcomed country life and enjoys what the Shire and community have to offer. With the odd new windscreen chip on his car being the only challenge he has come across so far, Todd can happily admit he is excited for his future in Moree.
